The lady in the Honda honked at me and glared. Why? Near as I can tell, it was because I was driving a Hummer H1 Alpha. Not actually driving, but just sitting there at a stoplight, next to her Honda. I can only guess why: general disgust at how the Hummer Hummer pumps up the 2008 H3 with the addition of the model line's first V-8. For 2008, Hummer is touting enhanced capability through a new model, the H3 Alpha. The Alpha version of the Hummer H series first appeared on the H1 and it stood for a more rugged and performance-oriented ride. Also, the car would have better trim, fitted for a more demanding customer. The 2008 version was fitted with a 5.3 liter V8 with Hummer is expanding. According to a Hummer blog, General Motors' rough-and-tumble brand will show its top-of-the-line 2008 H3 Alpha in the Big Apple next week. So what do you get when you buy an Alpha? Well, you finally get what we've wanted all along: a V8. From GM press: New for the Hummer H1 2001 Model Year: Instrument panel gauges have been redesigned and clustered in a new arrangement.
